Michael L. Reed, 78, of Hamilton, formerly of Covington, passed away Thursday morning, March 14, 2024, at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton. He was born November 27, 1945, in Winchester, Ohio, to the late Ivan and Bonnie Runyan. He married Louise (Meechan) Reed on July 23, 1966; she survives in Hamilton.
He will also be missed and remembered by his children, Elise Reed of Mason, Michael (Karen) Reed of Fairfield Township, James (Kimberly) Reed of Covington and Afton Reed of Gettysburg; five grandsons and four granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; and his siblings, Karen (Dave) Capparelli of Vandalia, Sharon (Paul) Bryant of Tennessee and John Runyan of Dayton.
Mike was a graduate of Wayne High School in Huber Heights and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He retired from GM Delco after many years of service and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was also a past member of the Amvets #66 of Covington and was a certified firearms instructor. He was a gun collector and also enjoyed doing construction projects.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 18, at Miami Memorial Park, 7875 N. Crescent Dr., Covington, with President Winslow Williams officiating. Burial with military honors will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton. Online condolences may be left for the Reed family at moorefh.com.
