Miriam Moore, age 98, of Hollansburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2022, at EverHeart Hospice Care Unit in Greenville, Ohio.
She was born on August 28, 1923, in Darke County, Ohio to the late Charles and Eunice (Wilcox) Alexander. In addition to her parents, Miriam was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Moore; her son, Dr. Jim Moore; and her infant brother, Francis Alexander.
Miriam was a lifelong resident of Darke County and was a 1941 graduate of Hollansburg High School. After high school, Miriam attended Capitol University graduating in 1945 with a bachelor’s degree in Music Education. She taught music at both New Madison Local School and Tri-Village Local Schools. As an active member of The Cedar Grove Church of the Brethren, she served over the years as choir director, organist and deaconess. Living life, as a woman of faith, ignited opportunities for that faith to be put into action throughout her life. When she was younger, Miriam played violin in the Richmond Symphony. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and a tremendous love for her family and life in general. Putting puzzles together, watching Ohio State Basketball and playing cards were pastimes she pursued in her home with family and friends. Miriam was quick to accept any invitation if it meant spending more time with her family. She did not allow her age to be a limitation or a deterrent to learning new things. Keeping in touch with her family allowed her to be a frequent user of social media to keep up to date with her immediate and extended family as well as her friends.
Miriam is survived by her sons, Tom (Vicky) Moore of Hollansburg, Bill (Jill) Moore of Hollansburg and Bob (Laura) Moore of Ludlow Falls, Ohio; her daughter in law, Joy Moore of West Milton, Ohio; her grandchildren, Tim (Nicki) Moore, Daniel (Sarah) Moore, Brittani (Brad) Hampton, Brandon (Meggan) Moore, Brennan (Austin) Barrett, Jenna (Brwudx) Francisco, Maggie Moore and Ryan Moore; great grandchildren, Wyatt, Landen, Lilly, Abby, Gwyneth, Sadie, Liam, Taylor, Manuela, Ivy, Kaden and Cole; many nieces and nephews that she loved like her own, as well as many extended family members and friends.
A celebration of life for Miriam will take place at 11:00 AM, on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at The Cedar Grove Church of the Brethren, 373 Love Road, New Paris, Ohio 45347, with Pastor Tony Price officiating. Burial will take place in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Miriam’s family will be receiving guests on Monday, February 7, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, at the church.
