COLUMBUS – The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) joined forces with other members of the 6-State Trooper Project to focus safety belt enforcement. During the project, 3,459 people in Ohio were issued citations for safety belt violations. Also, 97 people received child safety seat citations.
The high-visibility enforcement effort included the Indiana State Police, Kentucky State Police, Michigan State Police, Pennsylvania State Police, West Virginia State Police and OSHP. The initiative began on Friday, May 20 and continued through Monday, May 27.
Collectively, 8,159 people were issued safety belt citations. Also, 415 people received child safety seat violations during the multi-state enforcement effort.
The 6-State Trooper Project is a multi-state law enforcement partnership aimed at providing combined and coordinated law enforcement and security services in the areas of highway safety, criminal patrol and intelligence sharing.
