The vibrant nature photographs of Indiana resident Peg Hoover will be on display beginning Saturday, September 11 at the Anna Bier Gallery located within Henry St. Clair Memorial Hall in Greenville. “I am thrilled to present this beautiful work which should appeal to viewers of all ages and artistic tastes,” said Gallery Director CeCelia Rice. The exhibit opens with a reception beginning at 7 p.m., just prior to a concert by The Hitmen presented by Darke County Center for the Arts, and will be available for viewing the second Sunday afternoons of each month from noon till 2 p.m. and by appointment.
Peg Hoover pursued a career in Graphic Arts while dabbling in photography before working for a professional photography chain, taking photos of individuals and families; however, her major inspiration continued to come from nature. Since retiring from full-time employment, Peg has shared her pictures with a wide array of viewers in galleries throughout the tri-state area as well as in competitions at which she has earned awards and honors. She produces photos which reveal the miraculous intricate details making each flower unique, a fact that she feels is often overlooked. Additionally, she often reuses/restores/repurposes old windows, cabinet doors, wood trays, and other items to distinctly frame her work, adding to the singularity of each piece.
This exhibit is the initial installation for CeCelia Rice, who was recently appointed Anna Bier Gallery Director. Ms. Rice is hoping to provide more opportunities for visiting the Gallery, and hopes that the community will support those efforts. “These beautiful photographs can bring a sense of joy and peace to the viewer,” she stated. “I invite people to stop by after church on Sundays for further inspiration through the arts,” she concluded.
