Norbert D. Schlecty

Norbert D. Schlecty, 70, of Ansonia, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima, Ohio.

He was born on September 19, 1950, in Greenville, Ohio, to the late William Paul and Imogene (Sanders) Schlecty.

In addition to his parents, Norb was preceded in death by his first wife of 48 years, Alice Faye (Warner) Schlecty on August 9, 2017; his siblings, Roger Schlecty and Gayle (Don) Koontz; and his brother-in-law, Bill England.

Norb was a 1969 graduate of Ansonia High School. He worked for the Ohio Department of Agriculture as a meat inspector for over 40 years. Norb also served 20 years as an auxiliary member of the Darke County Sheriff’s Patrol. When Norb was not working, he could be found out hunting and enjoying the great outdoors. He was a proud lifetime member of the NRA.

Music was a big part of Norb’s life. He was raised in a musical family and passed his passion for music down to his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed singing and playing guitar. Norb was a member of the band, “The Thien Snipps.” He was a longtime member of the Rossburg United Methodist Church. In recent years, Norb developed an interest in touring the countryside on his Honda Gold Wing and spending the winter months in Florida.

Norb is survived by his wife, Becky (Blackburn) Klipstine Schlecty, whom he married on May 30, 2020; his children, Jeffrey and Tonya Schlecty of New Weston, and Laura Schlecty of Springville, Alabama; his grandchildren, Ambrea Schlecty, David and Angela Schlecty, Paul Schlecty, and Madison and Trey Fisher; his great granddaughter, Aurora, with one on the way; his bonus children, Todd and Tammy Klipstine of Ansonia, and Krista and Tony Spence of Union City, Indiana; six bonus grandsons, Adam and Chance Klipstine, Trevor, Tanner, Trendon and Treyton Spence; his sister, Deborah and Tim Soldenwagner of Florida; his sister-in-law, Cindy Pike of Greenville; his brother-in-law, Chuck Warner of New Mexico; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Norb’s life will take place at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, with Pastor Mitch Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in Brock Cemetery.

Guests may visit with Norb’s family on Sunday, September 26, 2021, from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM and again on Monday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
