Odean Madden age 88, of Greenville passed away at 5:32 pm Thursday, June 20, 2024, at his residence.
Odean was born April 10, 1936, in Knott County, Kentucky, to the late David Jesse & Emma (Pratt) Madden. Odean was also preceded in death by his wife, Billie L. (Combs) Madden on May 19, 2019, whom he married October 18, 1958.
Odean is survived by his children, Kim & Larry Wirrig, Cindy & Tim Troutwine, Christopher & Jennifer Madden and Debbie & Neil North; grandchildren, Adam Wirrig, Jared & Rachel Wirrig, Sarah & Tony Kuskie, Jessica & Tim Dudon, Lucas & Lynn Troutwine, Olivia Kirby-Smith & Chris, Matthew & Emily Madden, Katie Madden, Nicholas & Chelsea Anderson, Jacob Anderson and Jenna Anderson; great-grandchildren, Henry, Charlotte, Jack, Hudson, Lily, Landon, Cienna, Caden, Harper, Branson, Weston, John, Elsie, Miles, Dylan and Margot; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Odean served in the U.S. Navy between the Korean and Vietnam War. He retired from general Motors in Vandalia. Odean enjoyed tinkering with anything that had a motor, woodworking, going to auctions and most of all he adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Odean’s life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Dan Kuhbander officiating. Burial will follow in Abbottsville Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Greenville Veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 am at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to EverHeart Hospice in Greenville.
