COLUMBUS, Ohio—Ohio Right to Life announced the winner of the 2024 State Oratory Contest held on May 4th in Columbus, Ohio. Carmella DeTar of Immaculate Conception Academy won first place, Summer Hoying of Shelby County Right to Life won second place, and Skylar Lochtefeld of Auglaize County Right to Life won third place.
“These young, bright, and articulate women represent the future of the pro-life movement in Ohio,” said Peter Range, CEO of Ohio Right to Life. “Hearing their speeches was an encouraging reminder that the fight for life here in Ohio will carry on,” Range said. “I encourage all young people, to step forward like these young women, and to fight for equal protection of the preborn!”
Ohio Right to Life would like to thank the judges who participated, Rep. Brian Lorenz who represents Ohio’s 60th district, Mrs. Darlene Yost, and Naomi Del Guidice for their involvement.
DeTar, the winner of the state contest, will receive an all-expense paid trip to the national contest June 27th-28th in Crystal City, VA to be held during the 2024 National Right to Life Convention.
