COLUMBUS, Ohio—Ohio Right to Life released a statement praising the Senate’s legislative veto override of HB 68.
“Our most basic duty as parents is to protect our children,” Peter Range, CEO of Ohio Right to Life, said. “Our daughters should not be forced to compete against males in sports, plain and simple, and our children should not be undergoing irreversible sterilizations and experimental transgender medicine. This is not controversial; this is common sense. We are thankful for the Ohio Senate’s legislative veto override of HB 68.”
On January 10th, the Ohio House overrode the legislative veto override of HB 68, which included both the Save Adolescents from Experimentation Act (SAFE) and the Save Women’s Sports Act, that Governor DeWine vetoed on Friday, December 29, 2023.
The Save Women’s Sports Act ensures that girls competing in sports in Ohio are not forced to compete against biological males identifying as females, and the SAFE Act prohibits sterilizing medicine and experimental transgender procedures on minors.
Range concluded, “Our children are our greatest legacy, and today’s vote ensures our children are protected in Ohio.”
