Paul Edward Lawson

January 4, 1934 – March 15, 2025

Paul Edward Lawson, 91, a longtime resident of Rossburg, OH and Venice, FL, passed peacefully in the early morning hours of March 15, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

He was born on January 4, 1934, in Dayton, OH, to Clarence and Mary (Puterbaugh) Lawson and grew up near Union City. Paul married the love of his life, Joan L. (Shook) Lawson, and they raised five children in the Catholic faith. After building a beautiful life together and sharing more than 50 years of marriage, Joan entered eternal life.

Always working to provide for his family, Paul was a farmer, owned Lawson Barber Shop in Fort Recovery, and eventually retired from the Mercer County Elks Golf Club. Known as a kind man and a friend to all, Paul had the most generous spirit. His family admired his thoughtful approach to all of life’s challenges and respected the way he always found the path forward. Paul cherished the wonderful times spent with family and especially enjoyed the company of his many friends. He was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds.

Paul is survived by his five children: Phil Lawson (Carol) of Findlay, Mike Lawson of Arcanum, Jeff Lawson (Carolyn) of Arcanum, Debbie Coughlin (Tom) of London, and Tom Lawson (Patty) of Greenville. Also surviving are a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Max and Jo Ann Shook, of Kettering. Paul was preceded in death by his brothers Harold and Richard, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dick and Kay Shook.

Paul loved his grandchildren: Jessica Anderson (John), Grant Lawson (Ashlee), Lauren Lawson, Erica Turjanica (Ryan), Nick Coughlin (Emily), Lindsey Wilson (Derek), Jesse Lawson, Sacha Pollit (Zack), Rochelle Lawson, Paul Lawson (Chantrell), plus 22 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2025, and 9:00-9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.

Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the St. Henry Catholic Church, with Rev. Mark Ghiloni officiating.  Catholic burial will follow at the church cemetery.
