GREENVILLE- A senior at Northeastern Wayne in Indiana, Amelia Price too top honors in showmanship Saturday at the fair.
A resident of New Madison, Price has been showing for nine years and 4-H for 12 years.
When asked what winning the blue ribbon meant to her, Price did not hesitate with a response.
“It means that I’m one step closer to being the best showman in the barn,” she said.
Her goat, Mike, a 8 month old Nubian, is the heaviest goat in the barn. Getting a animal ready to show takes much preparation on the day of the show.
I was up at 6:30 this morning,” said Price. “I washed him and then I took him for a walk. After that, I fed and watered him and then we’re ready to show. I shaved and clipped him about a week and a half ago then I made sure his ears and tail was clean. So it was a very busy morning with him.”
Price said it took about three week to get him trained to stand properly.
Her parents are Geneva and Tony Price.
