Ralph “Doc” Ruse, age 95, of New Madison, Ohio, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022, at The Village Green Health Campus in Greenville, after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Butler Township on October 17, 1926, to the late Granville and Daisy (Wentworth) Ruse.
In addition to his parents Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Donna (Teaford) Ruse, whom he married on April 19, 1947; his four brothers, Dale, Howard, Clark and Frank; his niece, Marsha East; and his in-laws Clyde and Hattie (Morgan) Teaford.
Ralph lived in Darke County all his life, except for his time serving his country honorably in the United States Army from November 1945 to November 1946, being discharged as a Corporal. He was a graduate of New Madison High School. Ralph was employed at the American Aggregates for 40 years and after his retirement he worked for Wall Brothers Asphalt. Doc served on the Greenville Honor Guard and was a member of the Leroy Farst Legion 245 in New Madison for 70 years and a member of the VFW in Greenville. Ralph celebrated his 95th birthday last October with his family and friends. His hobbies included collecting train memorabilia as well as taking train trips through the United States and Canada. He and Donna enjoyed attending flea markets and auctions.
Ralph is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Mike) Burkett of New Madison, Ohio; his son, Jerry (Susan) Ruse of Greenville; his grandchildren, Angie Anderson and Kyle Ruse; his great grandchildren, Aubrey Ruse, Kelsey Wise, and Chasity Byers; his great-great grandchildren, Carter Wise and Grayson Byers; his long-time companion, Roberta Blair; as well as numerous friends and extended family members.
A celebration of Ralph’s life will be held at 10 AM on Monday, September 12, 2022, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, with Pastor Tony Price officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Fort Jefferson.
Ralph’s family will be receiving guests on Sunday, September 11, 2022, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
