NOVEMBER 8, 1935 – JANUARY 17, 2023
Ralph S. Mangen, age 87 of Versailles, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy, Ohio. Born in Darke County on November 8, 1935 he was a son to the late Leonard & Margaret (Grisez) Mangen. Ralph had worked many jobs over the years; he had farmed, was a carpenter for over 30 years, worked at Clopay as a lift truck operator, and well known for being a “Handyman” at Worch Lumber. He was a life-time member of the Knights of Columbus, and attended St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles. He enjoyed driving his John Deere tractor, painting and putting together wood models, and in his younger years, fishing and camping. He will be deeply missed. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers Albert (Helen) Mangen; Earl Mangen: grandson Michael Groff.
Survived by his wife of 65 years, Alice Mangen, whom he married on October 12, 1957: children John (Susan) Mangen; Diane (Gerald) Elsas; Debbie (Jim) Groff; Donna (Keith) Barga; Mark (Lynne) Mangen: 8 grandchildren: 16 great-grandchildren: sister-in-law Carolyn Mangen: and his beloved dog “Bristol”.
Friends may call on the family on Sunday, January 22, 2023 from 1:00 PM-3:00 PM at the Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 23, 2023 at 10:30 AM at St. Denis Catholic Church, with Fr. Matt Feist presiding. There will be an hour visitation at the funeral home prior to Mass. Burial at St. Valbert’s Catholic Cemetery, Versailles.
