Outside of Greenville, on SR 36, the Besecker Family Farm recently played host to the “Red, White & Brew” event. Inspired by Matthew Besecker’s mother Debbie Lynn, a local artist, formerly performing with the band Hogglegg, Matthew and Meghan Besecker embarked on an ambitious journey to create the inaugural “Red, White & Brew” event.
The genesis of this event can be traced back to a social media post by Paul Rosewood, now a Nashville resident with a rising career in country music. Having opened for top artists in the genre, Rosewood’s connection to his roots sparked an idea in Matthew and Meghan’s minds.
The concept took shape as a concert at their family farm.
However, bringing their vision to life wasn’t without its challenges. Matthew Besecker shared insights into the hurdles they faced, from setting up a stage that complemented the farm’s ambiance to navigating the unfamiliar terrain of event promotion. Despite these obstacles, the Beseckers remained undeterred, driven by their belief in the local talent and their enthusiasm.
The event itself was a testament to their perseverance. Though initial ticket sales were modest, those who attended were treated to a late afternoon/evening of great music, lively conversations, and wholesome family fun.
Reflecting on the experience, Matthew and Meghan Besecker recognized the invaluable lessons learned. They gained practical insights into event planning and honed their promotional strategies. As Matthew noted, “Everyone had a great time! Most said they would definitely come to future events.”
The Beseckers are already gearing up for next year’s “Red, White & Brew.” Plans are underway to expand and enhance the festivities, promising an even richer celebration of local music and culture.
