GREENVILLE — The Greenville Area Dog Club officially has a new location at 803 Martin St., Greenville (former Club 7 location)! On Saturday morning, the Darke County Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting for the GADC, a 501c3 nonprofit club.
Probably not many people know that the club is around since more than 50 years. Since 1968, the Greenville Area Dog Club is helping dog owners to train their four-legged family members. Note: the club doesn’t train the dogs! The club is helping dog owners to train their dog, which makes way more sense than just training the dog.
Over the years the club, which currently has about 35 members (volunteers) had several locations on SR49 (close to Spirit), then for 4 years at a location on Front Street and now at their new location at 803 Martin Street. Here they have not just the first floor but also a basement – enough space for the many classes the club offers, such as puppy club, senior pups (6 months – 1 year), therapy dog, agility, obedience and more. The next classes will begin early September. All of the instructors provide services on a volunteer basis. Because the building is air conditioned the club will be able to host classes throughout the summer.
