It was another big day for the Greenville City Schools: on Sunday, the new Fieldhouse at the Harmon Field was officially opened with a ribbon cutting event. And with that, Phase 2 of the new athletic complex is completed.
Partner and supporter in the naming the facility are Wayne HealthSports/Orthopedic Associates.
Many local companies and groups donated items for the facility itself as well as for the opening ceremony. Here is a list of donors: Greenville Ace Hardware, Greenville Athletic Boosters, Greenville Chamber of Commerce, Greenville School Foundation, Hansbarger Home Solutions, Stan Hughes, Jim’s Drive-In, Lowes, Midmark Corp., Rotary, Rural King, Wayne Building Supply.
Some facts about the new Fieldhouse:
- approximately 8,700 sq.ft.
- Four locker rooms with 201 Football and Double-Tier Metal Athletic Lockers
- Training room
- ADA approved women, men and family restrooms
- Large concession area with a Booster sales office
Next phase will be the demolition of the existing bleachers and the construction of new ones as well as a press box.
