Richard J.C. Greer age 86, of Greenville passed away peacefully Monday, October 2, 2023.
Richard was born October 31, 1936, to the late Chester & Pauline (Matthews) Greer. Richard is also preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Arlene (Hupe) Greer; and a son, Steve Greer.
Richard is survived by his 4 children, Terry & Ellen (Engelke) Greer of Kentucky, Tammy (Greer) & Sam Force of Greenville, Rusty & LeAnn (Williams) Greer of Greenville and Chris & Joy (Slade) of Greenville; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren plus 1 on the way; and a brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Dan & Sue (Hupe) Passon of Alabama.
Richard was a semi-truck driver for 42 years. He drove truck for DG & U, Commercial Lovelace and Manfredi. He hauled chemicals for BASF. In 1998 he was honored with the Ohio Truck Driver of the year.
He loved being with his family. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren always put a smile on his face. Family was everything. He loved watching the Bengals, Reds and Ohio State play. Richard was very social, he loved talking to people. He met friends once a week at McDonalds. He attended Greenville Missionary Church.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Monday, October 9, 2023, at Greenville Missionary Church 1110 N. Broadway Greenville with Rev. Gary Oser officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Greenville. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville and Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 am at church.
