Robert “Bob” David Scantland, 61, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at his home on July 2, 2022.
He was born on December 31, 1960, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Carolyn (Plank) Ableman of Celina, Ohio, and the late David Scantland.
In addition to his father, Bob was preceded in death by his stepmother, Joan Scantland.
Bob served his country honorably in the United States Army, retiring after 22 years of service. After retiring, he started his second career as a senior technical writer for ONEIL and Associates, in Miamisburg, Ohio, for 16 years, producing support manuals for many different industries ranging from commercial, aerospace and the Department of Defense.
Bob enjoyed fishing, guns, and motorcycles. He loved horses and supported his sons, traveling many weekends to countless horse shows and barrel racing competitions.
Bob is survived by his wife of 21 years, Becki Scantland, whom he married on June 3, 2001; his sons, Shayne (Monica Hupman) Scantland of Greenville, Ohio, Cody (Lara) Scantland of Knob Noster, Missouri, Kyle Scantland of Greenville, Shannon (Jason) Hartle of Jackson Center, Ohio, and Kody Burns of Richmond, Indiana; his grandchildren, Easton, Alayna, Levi, Brody, Jacob, Cora, Scarlett, Landry, Kylie, Lucas, Cooper, Alexa, and Kaden; his first wife, Shawna (Bryant) Scantland of Ansonia, Ohio; his siblings, Pat (Kathy) Scantland of Greenville, Christie Scantland Miller of New Madison, Ohio, Dee Scantland of Naples, Florida, Tommy (Julie) Scantland of Greenville, and Kim Ableman of Celina; and countless nieces and nephews. Bob also leaves behind his beloved dog, Delilah, who never left his side.
Bob’s family will be receiving guests on Friday, July 8, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus. A military service, provided by the Greenville Honor Guard, will take place immediately following the visitation at 7:00 PM.
A gathering of friends and family and celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022, from 12 noon until 4:00 PM at the Moose Lodge in Greenville located at 1200 Sweitzer Street.
