Robert E. Lee, 96, of Ansonia, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Ayden Healthcare in Greenville, Ohio.
He was born on June 11, 1926, in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Herbert and Cecile (Wilson) Lee.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded by his sister, Isabel Swabb; and his brothers, Charles Lee and George Lee.
Robert served his country honorably for over 26 years in US Navy and the Army National Guard. Robert was proud to be a veteran and served during the Normandy invasion during World War II. During his time in the US Navy, Robert went to the South Pole to supply Admiral Byrd’s expedition. Throughout his life he influenced his grandsons, Nathan, Jared, Andrew, and Justin, to enlisted in the military as well.
To call Robert a workaholic would be an understatement. He did not know what retirement was, as he worked for many places such as Aero Products in Vandalia, Vandalia Home in Englewood, New Idea in Coldwater, The Body Company in Union City, Ernie Green Industries in Arcanum, and Tom Raper RV in Richmond. He was a member of the Ansonia American Legion and the Rossburg United Methodist Church. One of Robert’s hobbies was bowling, which he did for over 50 years. Most of all, Robert loved the time he spent with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Robert is survived by his wife of 73 years, Patricia (Long) Lee, whom he married on December 31, 1948; his sons, Nicholas (Linette) Lee, Rick (Denise) Lee, all of Ansonia, and Rob (Mary Mitchell) Lee of Lambertville, Michigan; his grandchildren, Amy Noble, Nathan Lee, Ben Lee, Jared Lee, Andrew Lee, Erin Lee, Justin Lee, Alexia Mitchell and Haley Mitchell; and his great grandchildren, Chloe and Carter Noble, Daniel, Caleb, Micah, Peyton, Ethan, Robert, Monica, Brooke, and Colton Lee.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, October 28, 2022, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, with Pastors Mitch Arnold and Nicholas Lee officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.
His family will be receiving guests on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM at the funeral home.
