Ronald F. Bensman, age 81 of Minster, Ohio, died on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born on May 30, 1942 in St. Patrick, Ohio to the late Arthur & Henrietta (Poeppelman) Bensman. He married his wife Norma Jean Monnin of almost 59 years on January 30, 1965 at St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia.
She survives in Minster. He is survived by his children: Rhonda & Terry Bergman, New Bremen, Mark & Lois Bensman, New Bremen, Rick & Missy Bensman, New Bremen, Kristine & Allen Garber, Troy, Lori & Troy Suchland, New Bremen, Lisa & Jeff Dirksen, Minster, 20 grandchildren: Taylor & Clay Heitkamp, Derek Bergman & fiancée Faith Hagelberger, Jared Bergman, Josh Bensman, Heather & Cody Wendel and great grandchildren: Levi, Bo and another on the way, Zach “Rick” Bensman and fiancée Madison Cordonnier, Jake Bensman, Nathan, Nicholas, Kaitlyn, Lauren, Jacqueline Garber, Jadyn, Blake, Tanner, Jenna Suchland, Logan, Carter, Chase, Sophia Dirksen, brothers & sisters: Orville & Ruth Bensman, Sidney, David & Margie Bensman, New Bremen, Margie & Joe Moore, Miamisburg, Jane & Walt Homan, Findlay, in-laws: Doris Monnin, Versailles, Rita Monnin, Russia, Bill Mann, Sandusky.
He was preceded in death by in-laws: Sr. Evelyn Monnin, CPPS, Carl Monnin, Linus Monnin, Kathleen & Melvin Heuing, Elizabeth Mann.
Ron was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, New Bremen, and a graduate of Minster High School in 1960. He was a corporal in the Ohio National Guard and Army Reserve, and was a lifelong farmer, electrician and carpenter. He was a member of the National Farmers Organization, Minster K. of C., Minster Eagles and New Bremen American Legion. Ron was a gentle natured man who liked country music, had a good sense of humor and loved to engage in conversation. He enjoyed the outdoors and working on his family farm, growing crops and selling feed and supplements. Ron battled Parkinson’s disease for 25 years and with devoted care from his family, he continued to do things he loved most like spending time with his family and grandchildren on camping trips and vacations.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, New Bremen and burial with full military honors to follow in German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from 3 to 7 PM and at HOLY REDEEMER CATHOLIC CHURCH on Thursday, January 18 from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. In
