Ronald Gene Hatfield, 81, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Friday, September 24, 2021, at the EverHeart Hospice Care Center Greenville.
Ron (Ronnie to many) was born September 20, 1940, in Greenville, Ohio to the late Howard and Ruth (Mote) Hatfield. In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his brother Doyle Hatfield, and grandson Daman Hoblit.
Ron is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elois (Stockslager) Hatfield, whom he married on May 10, 1960; children, Jeannie and Tim Doubledee of Bradford, Pam and Jonathon Bradfield of Arcanum, Mark and Sherri Hatfield of Arcanum, John Hatfield of Flat Rock, Illinois, and Elisabeth and Jason Lance of Gettysburg; grandchildren, Benjamin (Laura) Doubledee, Rebekah (Ed) Clark, Anne (Nick) Berry, Jacob (fiancée Josephine Powell) Bradfield, Kellie (Randy) Daugherty, Travis (Sarah) Hatfield, Zane (Sandra) Hatfield, Seth (Megan) Hatfield, Katelyn (Cole) Blankenbeker, John Paul Hatfield, Joshua Hatfield, Luke Hatfield, Aaron Hatfield, Josiah Hatfield, Janae Hatfield, Chloé (Brian) Campbell, Alex (Mattelyn) Lance, Marabelle Lance, Felicity Lance, Sadie Lance, Madeline Lance; 16 great-grandchildren; brother Larry (Darlene) Hatfield, sister-in-law Nancy (Yingst) Hatfield, sister Beverly (Dennis) Fourman, and sister Shirley (Stan) Hicks; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ron spent a lifetime working in agriculture. He had been employed by Landmark/HarvestLand Co-op for many years, had farmed his own land, and until his recent illness, helped his sons and grandsons with farming. Ron was also known for his immaculate lawn, roses, and flower beds.
In recent years, he thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship and mission of spreading the Scriptures through being a part of the Gideons. He was always very involved in his local church and had a quiet way of ministering to others.
Ron was a wonderful example of a loving, caring, and supportive husband, father, and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all.
A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, September 29, 2021, 10 AM., at the Pleasant View Missionary Church, Rev. Jason Lance officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Pleasant View Missionary Church.
