Roy Lee Baker age 86, of Greenville passed away at 7:50 am Thursday, March 3, 2022, at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville.
Roy was born April 30, 1935, in Darke County, to the late Lewis & Bertha (Harshman) Baker. Roy was also preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Baker; daughter, Monica King; brothers, Everett, Wilbur and Erwin Baker; and sisters, Esther Auter, Thelma Miller, Dorothy Fowble and Helen Enochs.
Roy is survived by a daughter, Marcia Jester of Union City, Indiana; son, John Mamazza of Crestview, Florida; 9 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Edna Peden of Greenville and Stella shell of Greenville; nephew, Lenny & Robin Baker of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Roy served in the U.S. Army. Roy formerly was a truck driver; diesel mechanic; farmed; security guard at Union City Body Co.; custodian at Mississinawa Schools; cooked at Annie Oakley Restaurant; worked at Fram Corp.; construction worker and formerly owned R & B Hat and T-Shirt Business.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Coleman Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted by the Greenville Veteran’s Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to EverHeart Hospice.
