Ruth Annalee (Horine) Hunt passed peacefully at her home of nearly eight decades on October 12, 2021, following a long period of declining health. She was 100 years of age, born December 13, 1920 to Jacob and Ruby (Ward) Horine on a farm in rural Darke County.
After graduating from Greenville High School in 1939, she married one of the nine “Hunt Boys”, the late Howard E. Hunt, and spent the remainder of her century on earth as a dedicated farm wife and mother of four children. Although Ruth was raised a city girl, she adapted well to the rigors of farm life, raising a family as a loving and caring mother.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Ruby Horine, her husband Howard and twin siblings Esther (Horine) Troutwine and Lester Horine, son-in-law Thomas Tiernan, and grandson Tyrone Fink.
Ruth was an active member of Eastern Star, Fort Black Chapter #336. She was a past Worthy Matron, Grand Representative of Ohio to South Carolina, and served in many of the chairs during ritual ceremonies. She was a long-standing member of the United Methodist, Otterbein Church. Ruth loved baking and cooking, and looked forward to Sunday evening dinners with family; an uninterrupted tradition for over 50 years.
Ruth is survived by four children and their spouses. Shirley (Hunt) and Kenneth Fink, Dianna (Hunt) Tiernan, Douglas Hunt, and David and Deborah (Anderson) Hunt. She is also survived by five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside Services for Ruth will be held at Greenmound Cemetery, New Madison, Ohio on October 14th at 2:00pm. Service will be officiated by family. Eastern Star services will begin at 2:00pm.
