February 22, 1977 — January 22, 2024
Shannon Amy (Chronister) Collins, 46, of New Madison, Ohio, passed away suddenly on Monday, January 22, 2024, at her home.
She was born on February 22, 1977, in York, Pennsylvania, to Jim and Karen (Miller) Chronister.
In addition to her parents, Shannon is survived by her husband of 28 years, Anthony Collins, and her three children, Aiden, Xander, and Liam Collins.
Shannon was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Davey and Ruth Chronister, her maternal grandparents, Benjamin and Doris Miller, and her brother, Kirt Chronister.
Shannon spent many of her younger years in youth ministry, serving with Child Evangelism Fellowship in Durham, North Carolina, where she made life-long friendships and impacted many lives for the better. She was famous (or infamous) for the number of teenagers she could fit into a single vehicle.
Later she served as Youth Pastor at Cedar Grove Church where she forged life-long relationships and taught many young folks strength, resilience, and how to genuinely serve and love other people.
More recently she enjoyed her role as “the gum lady” at church, always having gum or other treats, toys, and activity books for the kids.
Shannon loved out loud. She never met a stranger, was always complimenting people, and looked for every opportunity to share a funny story with someone to brighten their day. She loved giving gifts, and cherished her time crafting, sewing, and quilting with her mother.
Shannon will be missed for her superpower of spreading joy and laughter everywhere she went.
A celebration of Shannon’s life will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Harrison Street Baptist Church in New Madison, Ohio, with Pastor Kyle Herrmann officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM-Noon on Saturday prior to the service at the church.
