Shelia Mae Didier, age 78, of Versailles passed away at 9:32 pm on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Upper Valley Medical Center under Hospice Care.
Shelia was born April 22, 1946, in Versailles to the late Leonard and Lucille (Smith) Gigandet. She is also preceded in death by brother, Robert (Bob) Gigandet; brother, George Gigandet; brother, Jerome (Jerry) Gigandet; brother, Norman Gigandet; sister in law, Myrna Gigandet; sister-in-law, Joan Gigandet; brother-in-law John Mangen; sister-in-law Dorothy Mangen; brother-in-law Maurice Brunswick; brother-in-law Robert Hodges; sister-in-law Ann Hodges; brother-in-law Edward Didier; sister-in-law Beverly Didier.
Shelia is survived by her husband of 60 years, James (Jim) Didier whom she married July 18, 1964; children, Randy and Angie Didier of Versailles and Sandy and Shawn Peters of Versailles; grandchildren, Dylan and Kacie Didier; Benjamin and Erica Didier; Elliot and Maci Didier; Nathan and Mara Peters; Cassie Peters; Dalton Didier and fiancée Charmaine; Cole and Marilyn Harshbarger; great-grandchildren, Loretta and Wade Didier; Rylin Didier; Braxton, Eldean, and Maria Didier; Daisy Didier, Cyrus Huey, Leia Latham; Harper Harshbarger.
She is survived by sister, Karon Crowell; brother in law, Lyle Crowell; sister in law, Evelyn Gigandet; sister in law, Lucille Brunswick; brother in law, Robert Didier; sister in law, Shirley Didier; sister in law, Mary Raffel; brother in law, Richard Didier; brother in law, Mark Didier; sister in law, Deb Didier.
Shelia had a lively personality and enjoyed being around people and socializing. She worked at Collins Super Valu, Frenchies Restaurant, and McBo’s Lanes. Shelia and Jim owned their own business, Industrial Trucks & Equipment, which they operated together for 32 years until they retired. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles. She also was a member of the Versailles Eagles Ladies Auxiliary for 56 years where she served as Secretary for 25 years and President for 4 years. She was an avid bowler having league bowled for over 40 years. Apart from that, Shelia enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, trips to their cabin in southeastern Ohio, shopping, and babysitting her great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles on Saturday, January 25 at 10:30 am with Randy Didier officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Versailles. An open house celebration of Shelia’s life at the Versailles Vet’s Club will immediately proceed the burial. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 24, from 3:00-7:00 pm at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home and from 9:30-10:30 am on Saturday, January 25. A Lodge of Sorrow service conducted by the Versailles Eagles Ladies Auxiliary will be held at 6:45 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
