Shirley Stockslager, age 86, of Greenville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 19, 2024 at 7:45 a.m. at Grandview Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.
She was born on March 22, 1938 in Union City, Ohio. The daughter of Virgil and Melvina (Drew) Wentworth who proceeds her in death.
On December 20, 1957 she married the love of her life, Harold Stockslanger of Greenville.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Harold Stockslager; children, Patricia (Ron) Bonfiglio of Lima, Ohio, David (Jackie) Stockslager of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Ryan Bonfiglio, Amy (Matthew Suber) Bonfiglio, Tyler Stockslager, Morgan (Ryan) Studer, Jordan Stockslager, and Josh Abbot; and two great-grandchildren, Deklan and Lenora Abbott.
Also surviving is her sister Barbara (Wentworth) Stockslager and brother-in-law John Stockslager of Greenville; brother-in-law, Phil Stockslager of Tennessee; sister-in-law, Roberta Wentworth of Greenville, Ohio; and seven nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Don Wentworth of Greenville, Ohio.
Shirley was a 1956 graduate of Greenville High School. She worked at Neff Lettering in Greenville for eight years. She later helped her husband Harold at his downtown Greenville flower shop, Stockslager Florist on Broadway, and retired from K-Mart in Greenville after 28 years of service.
Shirley had a passion for decorating and floral design. She loved to decorate her home for every season and enjoyed beautiful flowers in her yard. She and her husband enjoyed many road trips across the United States and she also like to travel to many Ohio festivals and craft shows throughout the year. She was always very fashionable and loved color, accessorizing her outfits with beautiful scarves and jewelry. She loved her family and was very proud of their accomplishments. Christmas was a very special time for her and she loved nothing more than having her entire family gather in her home to celebrate.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 27, 2024 at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus with Pastor Steve Short officiating. Interment will follow at Greenville Union Cemetery.
A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home.
