Steven Ganger

JANUARY 14, 1956 – MARCH 10, 2023

Steven Richard Ganger went home to his Savior on March 10, 2023. Steve succumbed to complications following double-pneumonia COVID that he suffered in January of 2022. He never fully recovered and was hospitalized or in a rehabilitation unit since last year. Steve was born January 14, 1956 and grew up in Bradford, Ohio and was a member of Bradford Church of the Brethren. He was a 1974 graduate of Bradford High School and attended Bowling Green State University. He was married to Debora Jean (Troutwine) on December 16, 1978 and they had two daughters who survive him; Elizabeth (Beth) Renee and Jennifer (Jenny) Irene.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Ganger, his father-in-law, Keith Troutwine, brother-in-law, Kevin Rhodehamel, and great-nephew, Infant Kevin Cassel. He is survived by his mother, Irene Ganger of Union, Ohio and mother-in-law, Lois Troutwine of Arcanum. He is also survived by his siblings: Barbara (John) Marchal and Kevin (Patricia) Ganger. Nieces and nephews: Anne (Joshua) Case, Josh (Carmen) Marchal, Jessica (John) Kepler {who was his god-daughter}, Andrew Marchal, and Richard (Richie) Ganger. He was also great-uncle Steve to Evelyn, William, and Lucia Case, Claire, Catherine and Paige Marchal.

He was also survived by his brother-in-law Kurt (Linda) Troutwine, and sister-in-laws, Vickie Rhodehamel, and Terri Alley. Nieces and nephews: Brian (Lerin) Troutwine, Jody (Matthew) Fritz, Zachary (Kelly) Rhodehamel, Tricia (Jason) Cassel, Traci (Gabriel) Greve, Melanie (Dustin) Helman, and Jonathan Alley. He was also great-uncle Steve to Noah, Hannah, Leah and Sarah Troutwine, Landon and Layla Fritz, Hamilton and Lorelai Greve, and Aurora and Hunter Helman.

A history buff, Steve loved photography, wildlife, and airplanes. He was a wonderful amateur photographer and was a member of the Darke County Photo Club of Greenville for many years. He was retired from Wayne Industries, Inc. of Greenville, Ohio having worked there for 30 years. He was a 30-year volunteer at the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Fairborn. Hockey was his favorite sport and he cheered on the Pittsburgh Penquins every chance he got! He was also a faithful member of the Columbus Zoo for most of his adult life and also traveled to visit many other zoos across the country, in fact, his daughter’s recall that they never went on a family vacation that didn’t include visiting a zoo!

Arrangements are being handled by Zechar-Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville, Ohio where a Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 2 p.m. The family will receive guests prior to service beginning from 12 Noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. The family requests any memorial donations to be sent to the National Museum of the United States Air Force in his memory. A Burial Service will be held later this summer at Harris Creek Cemetery, Bradford, Ohio.
