Ted “Teddy” H. Shields, age 84 of Greenville, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Oakley Place.
He was born on May 19, 1940 in Darke County to the late Richard and Beulah (Younce) Shields.
In addition to his parents, Teddy is preceded in death by his loving wife Betty Shields; daughter, Brenda Wise; grandsons, Tom Wise and Jeff Wise; and grandson in law, Dave “Bubba” Willoughby.
Those left to cherish Teddy’s memory include his daughter, Paula “Polly” and Danny Artz of Arcanum; sister, Gaye Phelps of Punta Gorda, FL; grandchildren, Pam and Jon Whitaker and Tina Willoughby; and great grandchildren, Micah Whitaker, Hunter Willoughby, Faith Whitaker, Brett Wise, Sierra Wise, Seth Wise, and Lucas Wise; special cousins, Marybeth and David Pritz and family of Arcanum and Dave “Perk” and Laura Perkins of Beavercreek, Ohio; and my many other relatives and friends.
Teddy graduated from Franklin Monroe High School. He retired from Good Sam Hospital, where he worked for over 30 years in maintenance. Teddy enjoyed fishing in Upper Peninsula of Michigan and for the last 15 years being a snowbird in Fort Myers, FL. He loved beating everybody in cards and watching sports, especially football and basketball. He liked the Cincinnati Reds, the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, and Kentucky Wildcats.
A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at the funeral home with Pastor Sean Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Mote Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Day City Hospice of Dayton.
