The 59th sheriff’s Expo was hold on 3/31, 4/1 and 4/2 and – as usual- it drew big crowds on each day.
With over 100 vendors, a great program with many attractions such as Kiddie Tractor Pull, Sheriff Canine Demonstration, DIY Youth Birdhouse Build, Kids fishing pond, Dance Studio Performance, raffles, photo shooting with WHO DEY and also good food from the Sheriff’s Patrol Kitchen, there was something for everyone.
At the opening ceremony (see photos below), Diane Delaplane welcomed the visitors and the vendors, the New Madison Boy Scouts presented the Colors and 12-year-old Paityn Lehr sang the National Athem.
Ron Beisner adresssed, a member of the Sheriff’s Patrol, the crowd and said that the Patrol supports the Darke County Sheriff without taking money from public funds.
After that Sheriff Mark Whittaker explained that the Patrol consists of volunteers from the Sheriff’s Office. He also said there are not just the deputies, but also employees in the office, correction officers, dispatchers, and more. The Patrol is providing security at local high school games as well as at other events in the County and supports multiple programs.
The Darke County Commissioners, Matt Aultman, Larry Holmes and Marshall Combs as well as State Representative Angie King were there and thanked the Sheriff’s Office for all they are doing and for keeping the community safe.
Diane Delaplane talked about the fact that this event is growing every year, from 24 vendors some years ago to now over 100 vendors at this event.
