The Darke County Animal Shelter has 8 new dogs available for adoption. For two of the dogs, the adoption is sponsored by Reigning Cats & Dogs Pet Grooming (see the description of the dogs). The Darke County Animal Shelter Staff would like to give a big THANK YOU to both Desiray Fourman from Bark Avenue Grooming Boutique and Casey Helmer from Reigning Cats & Dogs Pet Grooming for donating their time to come out to the shelter and groom Ebony which took about 6 1/2 hours because how severely matted she was. We thank you both so much for helping this girl!
All dogs got the Bordatella and Parvo/Lepto/Distemper vaccines and are heartworm negative, dewormed and microchipped.
The Shelter’s visiting hours are Monday-Friday 8am-11:45 am and 1 pm-4pm. Saturday only by appointment. The Shelter is located at 5066 County Home Rd. Greenville, OH 45331 and you can reach them at 937-547-1645.

Ebony came to us as a stray so our knowledge about her is very limited, and what we do know is ONLY from what we have observed here at the shelter. We believe Ebony is a 5-year-old female Poodle Mix. Ebony is a very sweet girl who is a who acts like she has never met a stranger. Ebony has shown us she knows how to sit, loves treats and walks well on a leash. Ebony came into are shelter severely matted. Bark Avenue Grooming Boutique and Reigning cats & dogs Pet Grooming donated their time to come in and groom Ebony which took about 6 1/2 hours. The breed of dog is Ebony will require her to go to the groomers every 6 to 8 weeks to maintain her coat. Tony came to us as a stray so our knowledge about him is very limited, and what we do know is ONLY from what we have observed here at the shelter. We believe Tony is a 8-month-old, intact male Terrier Mix. Tony is super friendly boy who just wants to be loved on. Tony shown us that he knows how to sit, shake and loves treats Tony is learning to walk on a leash and doesn’t seem mind the other dogs here at the shelter. Tony did great for nail trim and exam where he weighs in at 50.2 lbs.Ron came to us as a stray so our knowledge about him is very limited, and what we do know is ONLY from what we have observed here at the shelter. We believe Ron is a 2-year-old, intact male Shepherd Mix. Ron is super friendly boy who just wants to be loved on and enjoys being outside. Ron loves for you to give him treats. Ron is learning to walk on a leash and doesn’t seem mind the other dogs here at the shelter. Ron did great for nail trim, bath and exam where he weighs in at 35 lbs.Lucy Lu came to us as a stray so our knowledge about her is very limited, and what we do know is ONLY from what we have observed here at the shelter. We believe Lucy Lu is a 8-Year-old female Jack Russell Mix. Lucy Lu is a sweet girl who loves for you to give her treats. Lucy Lu learning to walk on a leash and doesn’t mind the other dogs here at the shelter. Lucy Lu is not a big fan of water. Lucy Lu did great for her nail trim and exam where she weighed in at 15.8 lbs.Izzy came to us as a stray so our knowledge about her is very limited, and what we do know is ONLY from what we have observed here at the shelter. We believe Izzy is a 2-Year-old female Shepherd/Husky Mix. Izzy is a sweet girl who loves attention. Izzy has shown us she knows how to sit, shake and loves treats. Izzy learning to walk on a leash and doesn’t mind the other dogs here at the shelter. Izzy did great for her bath, nail trim and exam where she weighed in at 41 lbs. Jack came to us as a stray so our knowledge about him is very limited, and what we do know is ONLY from what we have observed here at the shelter. We believe Jack is a 1 1/2-year-old, neutered male Terrier Mix. Jack has shown us he knows how to sit, shake and loves treat. Jack love to play tug-a-war and chase after the ball. Jack learning to walk on a leash and doesn’t mind the other dogs here at the shelter. Jack did great for his bath and exam where he weighed in at 55lbsDrax came to us as a stray so our knowledge about him is very limited, and what we do know is ONLY from what we have observed here at the shelter. We believe Drax is a 3-month-old intact male Hound/Terrier Mix. Drax is sweet boy who loves attention. Drax is your typical puppy who just wants to play, eat and sleep. Drax learning to walk on a leash and doesn’t mind the other dogs here at the shelter. Drax did great for his bath, nail trim and exam where he weighed in at 21 lbs. Ava came to us as a stray so our knowledge about her is very limited. We believe Ava is a 2-Year-old female Dalmatian/Husky Mix. Ava is a happy girl who loves to be outside. Ava has shown us she knows how to sit, shake and love treats! Ava learning to walk on a leash and doesn’t mind the other dogs here at the shelter and wants to be around people. Ava did great for her bath, nail trim and exam where she weighed in at 54 lbs.
