Thelma Irene Marker, 96 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Sunday October 17, 2021 at 7:47 AM at Wayne Healthcare, Greenville, Ohio. She was born December 7, 1924 in Darke County, Ohio the daughter of the late Fred W. and Minnie M. (Grote) Sander.
Thelma was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and E.L.C.A Women of the Church. She enjoyed crocheting, reading books, was a master jigsaw puzzler and enjoyed playing cards. She loved to travel and spend time with her family.
Thelma was very active for many years with the Beisner 8-pony hitch attending several county fairs and parades including the Milwaukee Circus Parade. They advertised for the local Buchy Meat Parking Co. for many of those years. As the years progressed, the pony hitch became a Clydesdale hitch. In addition, she worked for many years at the Ro-Elma Farms Custom Butchers Shop as well being a farmer, homemaker and mother of five children.
Thelma is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter in law: Jane Beisner; son in law: Richard Allen; her granddaughter: Stephanie Strang; her brothers and sisters in law: Lester and Edna Sander, Richard and Jean Sander; her sister and brother in law: Pauline and Emerson Willis; her sister in law: Doris Sander; and her companion of 17 years: Fred Stephan.
Thelma is survived by her children and spouses: Charlotte J. Allen of Troy, Wayne D. Beisner of Troy, David E. and Sara Beisner of Greenville, Diane R. and Dale Strang of Troy, and Shirley A. and Greg Amspaugh of Celina; 17 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 19 great great grandchildren; her brother: Duane Sander of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday October 22, 2021 at 2:00 PM at St. John Lutheran Church, 7418 State Route 121, Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Alliyah Greaver officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Friday at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church.
