ANSONIA- On paper, it was supposed to be a close game between two undefeated teams.
It didn’t take long to see that a possible nail biter wasn’t in the cards.
By the end of the opening eight minutes, Ansonia was up 14-0 and it still looked like it could be a good game.
Ansonia lit it up in the second quarter and by the half the Greyhounds were no match for the Tigers.
Ansonia remained perfect on the young season posting a 64-6 drubbing of Dixie.
Before the first half had ended. second year coach Adam Hall had pulled his starters off the field and let the junior varsity take over.
It weas the second string that put the final score on the board at the 1:40 mark when Kameron Inglr romped in from 29 yards out making the halftime score, 64-0.
“They (Dixie) are a young team and we got up on them early,” said Hall/ “It’s good when we can get the junior varsity in and give them a little experience on a Friday night.”
Despite the lopsided win, Hall gave Dixie a lot of credit.
“This is a young team,” said Hall. “The came out a got after it and they are much improved from last year.”
It took less than two minutes for Ansonia to strike.
Senior Eric Stammen took the handoff and romped 35 yards fpr the score.
At tha point, Ansonia was up 8-0
Just over two minutes later, Keegan Weiss ripped of a 42-yard run and the romp was on.
Ansonia would add 48 more points in the second half, showing its dominance to remain unblemished on the season.
Even with the junior varsity on the field, Dixie had no answers on either side of the ball.
While there is no such thing as a perfect game, the biggest mistakes of the night for the Tigers came in the form of two penalties Neither of which hurt Ansonia.
.”Im sure I find some things we can improve on but until I see the film, I really dont know what that is.: admitted Hall.
