ANSONIA- Twin Valley South was looking to get its second straight win Friday night but beating Ansonia would prover to be a tall task.
The Tigers were just too much for the Panthers as Ansonia rolled to a 37-0 victory to remain undefeated in the Western Ohio Athletic Conference.
The weather, provided by the hurricane coming in from the south proved to be a difference maker in the outcome.
While the Tigers had their problems at times but it was way too much for the Panthers.
Ansonia hit pay dirt in the opening frame at the 4:14 mark when sophomore Jacob Schmitmeyer romped for 66 yards giving the Tigers a 8-0 lead at the end of the opening frame.
Ansonia scored again in the second quarter and led 16-0 at the half.
While the Ansonia offense was putting points on the board,but it was the defense that was turning the trick on defense.
The Tigers defense held the Panthers to only one yard rushing the whole game.
“I was very pleased with the defense tonight,” said Tigers head coach Adam Hall. “When they (South) head the ball in scoring position, we stood stood tall and stood tall and shut them down. I couldn’t ask for anymore than that.”
The Tigers went to 4-1 on the season and will remain in a tie in the WOAC with Preble Shawnee for first place in the conference.
