A new Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is now open for SMART grants. Applications to USDOT are due by 5:00 PM ET on Friday, July 12. This NOFO is open to “Stage 1: Planning and Prototyping” projects and is expected to be the final Stage 1 NOFO under the current authorized funding for the SMART Grants Program.
Established by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the program provides $100 million for funding to public-sector agencies—including EMS—from 2022 to 2026 paying for projects that focus on using technology interventions to solve real-world challenges facing communities.
USDOT expects to award approximately 30 Stage 1 grants of up to $2,000,000 in this round with the anticipated minimum award size of $250,000. Applicants are encouraged to apply with other agencies and stakeholders.
