Vernon J. Huber

November 20, 1930 – October 26, 2023

Vernon J. Huber age 92 of Maria Stein, Ohio formerly of Osgood passed away at 9:35 AM on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Briarwood Village, Coldwater, Ohio.  

He was born November 20, 1930 in Osgood, Ohio to the late Henry E. & Josephine (Sherman) Huber.  He married Madonna Post on November 20, 1954 in St. Wendelin and she preceded him in death on January 29, 2020.  

He is survived by children:  Mary Jo & Dan Hess, St. Rose, Jacqueline & Steve Henry, St. Henry, Robert & Margaret Huber, Athens, TN, Thomas & Chris Huber, Versailles, Richard & Elaine Huber, Minster, Amy & Don Kemper, Chickasaw, son-in-law Bill Young & fiancée Vickie Wehner, St. Marys, 27 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, sister: Martha Magoto, Russia, sisters-in-law Lucille Stahl, St. Henry, and Dorothy Keller, Ft. Wayne, IN.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Cara Young, grandson Ryan Hess, brother-in-law Norbert Magoto, in-laws: Bernadette & Louis Fullenkamp & sister-in Law Zita Fullenkamp, Margaret & George Kinder, Ralph & Roseanne Post, Edward & Phyllis Post, & brother-in-law Cyril Evers, Wally & Pat Post, Leonard & Marie Koesters & brother-in-law Paul Ranly, twins Carol Ann & Charles Post, brother-in-laws Thomas Keller & Richard Stahl and mother-in-law & father-in-law Frank B. & Mary (Brunswick) Post.

Vernon was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Maria Stein and former member of St. Nicholas Church, Osgood, and a former Men’s Sodality. He was a graduate of Russia High School, was a past city councilman, fire fighter and on the park board in Osgood.  He was a veteran of the US Air Force and a member of the Osgood American Legion Post #588, where he was past commander.  

He retired from Minster Machine and was a member of the 25-year club.  Vernon enjoyed fishing with Donna, golf cart cruises, woodworking, following the Reds and especially following his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 30, 2023 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Maria Stein. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Martin Cemetery, Osgood. Friends may call at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, October 29, 2023 and from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Everheart Hospice.
