Viola “Fay” Lorton, 95, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022, at the Oakley Place in Greenville.
She was born on March 28, 1927, in Darke County, Ohio, to the late James and Ada (Ford) Birt.
In addition to her parents, Fay was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” Lorton; and her 6 brothers and one sister.
Fay is survived by her children, Jim (Marilyn) Lorton and Jill (Rick) Thompson both of Greenville; her three grandchildren, Jamie (Billy) Swartz of North Port, FL, Jeff May of Pitsburg, Ohio, and Jennifer (Charlie) Pauly of Greenville; her great grandchildren, Skylarr, Billy, Tori, Clay, Lacy, Brody, and Madison; and her 6 great-great grandchildren.
Fay graduated from Ansonia High School. She worked for Brateman’s Dress Shop in downtown Greenville for several years and then went to work for Corning Glass for 21 years as an accountant. Early in life, Fay loved going golfing, bowling, going to the Elks with her husband, Dick. She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and taking them on bicycle rides to the park. Later in life, Fay and Dick were snowbirds, spending many winters in Florida.
A celebration of Fay’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, July 11, 2022, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus. Burial will follow in Greenville Union Cemetery.
Guests may visit with Fay’s family on Monday from 11:00 AM until the start of the service at 1:00 PM.
