Columbus — Members of the Ohio Department of Veterans Services (ODVS) staff, including leadership, will be on hand at the Ohio State Fair on Sunday, July 31 to recognize Veterans & Military Day and to provide information to former service members and their families.
ODVS representatives will be at a greeting table just inside the main entrance near the Cardinal Gate throughout the day. County Veterans Service Officers from Franklin, Delaware, and Licking counties also will be available to assist veterans and provide them additional resources.
The Ohio State Fair is one of the largest state fairs in the country and Ohio is home to right around 725,000 veterans, which ranks our state fifth nationally in terms of veteran population. Thousands of former service members attend the fair on Veterans & Military Day each year. Once again, veterans and active duty service members will be given free entry (with appropriate military ID) to the fair on this special day.
Like many state agencies, ODVS has an annual presence at the Ohio State Fair and cherishes its engagement with those who serve and support #OhioVets. Several prominent veterans, including honorees of the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame, are expected to be part of the festivities.
ODVS will man the table the entirety of the day, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and will supply benefit resource guides to visitors. The daily parade will begin at 4 p.m. just north of Natural Resources Park and will continue up the Food Highway, ending just north of 17th Avenue. The parade will feature distinguished Ohio Veterans and ODVS staff members.
We’re looking forward to seeing you on Sunday and to celebrating our amazing Ohio veterans.
