MAY 27, 1929 – MARCH 18, 2023
Saturday, March 18, 2023, Wilbur J. Bevins, at the age of 93, went home to be with his Lord and Savior surrounded by his family.
Wilbur was preceded in death by Leota (Petry) Bevins, his wife of 59 years, Parents: Roy & Cora (Sleppy) Bevins. Siblings & Spouses: Paul, Merl, Johnny (Aileen), Lowell, Marvin, Charles (Barbara), Evelyn, and Emma (Ralph) Nichols. Brother-in-law: Eugene Cloyd. Children: Myra Bevins, and Lisa (Bevins) Metzcar.
He is survived by his sister, Dorothy (Bevins) Cloyd, Sister-in-Law, Beverly Bevins. Children: Vivian (Tom) Dailey, of Greenville; Douglas (Anna) Bevins, of Arcanum; Dwight (Corine) Bevins, of Greenville; Pamela (Samuel) Graves, of Greenville; Twelve cherished grandchildren: Joseph (Alisa) Bevins, Nathaniel Bevins, Leah Metzcar, Jordan (Ashley) Bevins, Jacob Metzcar, Zachariah Bevins, James Graves, Chloie Graves, Loryn Metzcar, Joshua Metzcar, Leana Metzcar, and Josiah Metzcar, and two great grandchildren: Kai and Bonnie.
Wilbur worked as a machinist at Alcoa in Richmond, Indiana where he retired after 32 years of service. He loved raising cattle, farming, woodworking, gardening, tractors, making apple butter, working on outdoor projects, fishing, and spending time with his family, whom he treasured.
Wilbur was a devoted husband, loving dad and grandpa.
He taught his family about Jesus, the value of loyalty, doing things with excellence, life skills, how to pull off a good prank, and countless lessons. Visitation will be at Zechar-Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville, Ohio Saturday, April 1st 10 am – noon. A Celebration of Life Service will be at noon, followed by a Graveside Service.
Wilbur will be greatly missed by his family, loved ones, friends, and all who knew him. We take great comfort in knowing we will see him again one day in Heaven and rejoice that he is finally home.
