William “Bud” Otis Dinkins, Jr., 84, of Harrison, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Hospice of Hamilton, in Hamilton, Ohio.
Bill was born on February 24, 1938, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late William Otis Dinkins, Sr. and Dorothy “Dolly” (McCrocklin) Dinkins.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife Leah Jean (Rexrode) Dinkins, whom he married on July 20, 1963, and who passed away on November 10, 2015; his grandson, Benjamin Wathen; and his siblings, Robert “Bob” Ross, Jimmy Dinkins, and Carol Horstmann.
Bill joined the US Navy after high school where he served for 8 years. He later served in the US Air Force for 12 years, until his retirement. He was an avid music lover. He will be remembered as an amazing self-taught pianist with Southern Gospel and Country being his favorite genres. Bill was a life-long learner, his interests and knowledge base was vast, and he instilled that love of learning in his family.
Bill is survived by his children, Kimberly Schledewitz of Omaha, Nebraska, Billy Dinkins of Phoenix, Arizona, Jeff (Reda) Dinkins of Greenville, Ohio, Darcy (Jeremy Watkins) Dinkins and Teresa (Jason) Null; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Joyce Herringer, Nancy Horning, Emily Ayers, Larry Dinkins and Linda Jensen, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 2PM on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, with Pastor Larry Dinkins officiating. Bill’s family will receive guests on Thursday from 1 PM until the time of the funeral. Burial will follow in Greenmound Cemetery, New Madison, Ohio with full military honors from the Greenville Honor Guard.
