William J. Curtner age 96, of Greenville passed away at 7:28 pm Sunday, November 13, 2022, at his residence.
William was born June 2, 1926, in Darke County to the late William R. & Alma (Hoover) Curtner. William was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Carol (Wehrley) Curtner; great-grandson, Dylan Williams; brother, Denver Curtner; and sisters, Dorothy Fasick, Wanda Campbell and Edith Prether.
William is survived by his children, Connie & Dennis Davison of Greenville, Brenda Curtner & Phil Oxley of Coos Bay, Oregon, and Sandy Denniston of Union City, Ohio; grandchildren, Bruce & Kim Davison, Georgina & Erick Williams, Nathan Denniston, Nicole & Matt Nieport and Tyler Oxley; great-grandchildren, Derick Williams, Brianna Williams, Sarah Davison, Isaac Davison, Gavin Denniston, Caydn Denniston, Cooper Nieport, Madilynne Nieport and Ava Nieport; and brother, Lloyd Curtner.
William was a 1944 graduate of Greenville High School. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. William farmed and worked as a loan officer for 25 years at Miami Valley Production Credit until his retirement. William worked at Sears after his retirement for 4 years. He was a member of the Arcanum Masonic Lodge and Greenville V.F.W. William enjoyed playing cards, reading, fishing, golfing, woodworking and traveling.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in Abbottsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to The Dylan Williams Foundation (BPD in memo) P.O.
