Wright and Michael take top honors

GREENVILLE- After doing 11 years in 4-H showing goats, Ansonia senior Emily Wright finally broke through with her first Grand Champion at the fair.

“This feels good,” said Wright. “I worked hard with my goat and my hard work paid off. I spend two or three hours a day with my goat.”

As a student, Wright also does track and cross country for the Tigers. Claiming her studies always will come first, Wright knows the money will come in handy down the road.

“I’ve got over a thousand dollars in bids right now,” said Wright.

Wright’s goat is a Nubian.

“I plan to show after high school unless collage interferes with that.”

After high school Wright wants to attend Sinclair to get a degree in Radiology.

Her counterpart was a fourth grade student at Arcanum Butler, C.J. Michael.

Michael showed a Nubian as well.

“The competition was really close,” said Michael. “The questions were really hard and I missed the final question. I’m so happy with my goat and my finish.”

Michael will be back for many more fairs in the future and got well over 900 dollars for his goat.

It was his first year of showing goats.
