James “Jim” Brandt, age 84, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at The Versailles Rehabilitation and Healthcare. He was born on March 21,1942, to the late Arthur and Edith (Border) Brandt.
Jim is survived by his children, Timothy & Amy Brandt of Versailles, Tony & Dawn Brandt of Versailles and Angela & Don Schlarman of Coldwater, Jeff & Beth Curran and Jim Curran; grandchildren Joe (Christine) Brandt, Josie (Russell) Wulber, Allie (Luke) Berning, Matthew (Katelyn) Prueter, Adam Brandt, Allison Brandt, Taylor (Tyler) Kiefer, Ashlyn (Carter) Bensman and Logan J. Schlarman (girlfriend, Erin Peebles); numerous great grandchildren; his sister, Linda Foley as well as numerous nieces, nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Linda L. Brandt, whom he married on December 17, 1966; his great grandchild, Aerian Joseph Michael Brandt; his sister, Liz Rothlein and brother, John Brandt.
Jim was a lifelong farmer and in 1978 he was named Outstanding Young Farmer for the state of Ohio. Jim served on numerous boards and he enjoyed bowling. His greatest love was for his family, especially his grandchildren.
There will be a service held on Wednesday, May 20 at 6:00 PM at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio, with Pastor Russell Wulber officiating. Burial will follow at the convenience of the family in Brock Cemetery, Brock, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 4:00 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
