Erik Straub, 46, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at The Ohio State University Medical Center on Sunday, May 17, 2026.
Erik was born on November 2, 1979 in Greenville, to Becky Straub Hunt and Jim Straub.
He is survived by his beloved son, Maverick Straub; his mother and step-father, Becky and Rick Hunt of Greenville; his father, Jim Straub of Greenville; his brothers, Lee (Karin) Swank of New Madison and Ron (Shellie) Swank of Avon Park, Florida; his step-sisters, Andrea (Mark) McGriff of Fairborn and Megan (Justin) Mundt of Milford; his step-brother, Aaron (Kelsey) Hunt of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his uncle, Mike (Kate) Straub of Cleveland; and his aunt, Marilyn Watson of Connecticut, Maverick’s mom Natasha (Pat) Rosenbeck. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Erik was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tom and Mary Brandenburg, and his grandmother, Joyce (Straub) Wilt.
Erik attended Greenville High School. He had a creative spirit and enjoyed making hemp necklaces and crafting djembe drums. He spent many cherished hours at Straub Woods in Jay County, Indiana, his favorite place to be. He also enjoyed golfing with his dad at the Union City County Club and was a member of Reverent Church in Greenville. He shared a deep and special bond with his mother, Becky, that remained strong throughout his life. Above all, Erik loved his son, Maverick.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the medical staff at The Ohio State University Medical Center for their kindness, compassion, and care during this difficult time. A special thank you is also extended to Greg Heiser of Family Health for his support and dedication.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM -1:00 PM on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Reverent Church, 1451 Sater St., Greenville, Ohio 45331.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 23, at Reverent Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Reverent Church building fund in Erik’s honor.
