Greenville, Ohio – Spirit EMS is proud to announce its Fall 2026 Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Training Program in partnership with Four County Career Center, continuing its commitment to developing the next generation of EMS professionals and addressing the growing shortage of emergency medical responders throughout Ohio and the surrounding region.
The Fall 2026 EMT program will begin on September 21, 2026, and will be held at the Spirit EMS Education Center, located at 700 Riffle Avenue in Greenville, Ohio. The application deadline is September 2, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Offered in a traditional classroom format, the course will provide classroom instruction, hands-on skills training, clinical education, and comprehensive preparation for the National Registry examination.
Spirit EMS has built a strong reputation for educational excellence, with its most recent EMT classes achieving a 100% first-attempt pass rate on the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) examination. This success reflects the organization’s ongoing investment in quality instruction, student support, and workforce development initiatives. The Fall 2026 class will be led by Crystal Horne and Doug Combs of Four County Career Center, both experienced EMS educators dedicated to providing students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to succeed in the EMS profession.
The need for EMTs continues to grow nationwide as communities face ongoing workforce shortages, increased healthcare demands, and an aging population. Rural communities have been particularly impacted by EMS staffing challenges, creating significant opportunities for individuals seeking careers in emergency medical services. As healthcare systems continue to rely on EMS providers as an essential part of the continuum of care, qualified EMTs remain among the most sought-after healthcare professionals. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of EMTs and paramedics is projected to grow faster than the average for all occupations during the coming decade, with thousands of openings expected annually due to workforce growth, retirements, and career transitions.
Students accepted into the Spirit EMS EMT program will receive full tuition assistance, textbooks, uniforms, pre-employment screenings, background checks, and the cost of their first National Registry examination attempt at no personal expense. Participants will also be paid while attending class and, upon successful certification, will commit to 2,080 hours of employment with Spirit EMS.
Recognizing that not all prospective students live near Greenville, Spirit EMS is also offering lodging assistance for eligible participants who reside closer to one of the organization’s satellite stations. This initiative is designed to remove geographical barriers and create opportunities for individuals throughout Spirit’s service area to participate in the program and begin rewarding careers in emergency medical services.
“EMS remains one of the most rewarding professions available to individuals who want to serve their communities and make a meaningful difference in people’s lives,” said Brian K. Hathaway, President and CEO of Spirit Medical Transport, LLC. “The demand for qualified EMTs has never been greater, and Spirit EMS remains committed to investing in education and workforce development. This program provides an opportunity for individuals to launch a healthcare career with no out-of-pocket educational expenses while receiving the training and support needed to succeed.”
Since 2017, Spirit EMS has invested significant resources in workforce development, scholarship opportunities, and training programs designed to strengthen emergency medical services throughout the communities it serves.
