Carol passed away Saturday, August 22 after a 2-month stay at Rest Haven Care Center. Carol was born February 1, 1943, at her parent’s home, which was built by her dad and granddad, in New Madison, Ohio to Rolland Morris Sinck and Anna Maxine Lawrence Sinck. Her parents had an auto repair shop at their house. When Carol was 16, they moved the shop to 121 outside of New Madison and opened an American Motors/Jeep Car Sales. Carol worked at the Tasty Freeze in New Madison as a teenager for her Uncle Ed Lawrence. After graduating in 1961 from New Madison High School, she went to work at General Athletic in Greenville. Carol married Richard Peden in 1961 and had a daughter Deanna on 1962 and son Danny 1964. They bought a mini farm outside of Arcanum in 1966 and raised numerous animals, but mostly horses. They camped and rode motorcycles for fun. Carol drove a bus in Union City transporting migrant workers children to school and then for Arcanum Butler Local Schools for a few years. Her favorite after school trips were with the High School Girls Basketball and Volleyball classes of 1977 and 1978. She then worked at Ohio Plate and Glass in Lewisburg followed by Corning Glass for over 20 years before attending Edison State Community College and getting an associate’s degree in art and human resources. She used this degree in her next job at Wayne Industries helping developmentally challenged adults. Her specialty was helping the seniors draw and paint and sometimes took a few favorites fishing and bowling. She retired in 2010 and spent countless hours perfecting her art skills. She was in numerous Art Guilds in Ohio and Indiana and loved painting at many out-of-state locations. She traveled to Montana Maine and New Orleans as well as Puerto Rico and France to paint. Carol entered her paintings in the Darke County Fine Arts competition each year at the Darke County Fair, winning dozens of ribbons. She loved attending her grandkids’ and great grandkids’ sporting events. She was also a member of the New Madison Ladies Auxiliary. She leaves behind her daughter, Deanna (Brad) Troutwine; grandchildren, Jared (Heather) Morris, Kayla (Tyler) Morrison, Hallie (Nathan) Wampler, Colton (Maddie) Troutwine and Justin Troutwine; great grandchildren, Tarrin, Karmen and Krew Morrison, Navee and Sydnee Morris, Miles and Parker Wampler and Jaxon Troutwine; sister, Claudia (John) Landis; nieces, Stacy Kauffman and Jenna Brooks; nephew, Curt Kuhns; great nieces and great nephews. She was preceeded in death by her parents and her son Danny, who was killed in a car/train accident in 1986. Memorial contributions can be made to Arcanum Preservation Society. Visitation will be at Kreitzer Funeral Home 204 N. Main St., Arcanum, OH 45403 on Thursday August 27th from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment services will be held at Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.
