James C. Gower, 86, of Union City, Ohio passed away Wednesday September 2, 2026 at JAG Healthcare in Union City. He was born September 15, 1939 in Darke County, OH son of the late Kenneth T. and Hazel Mann Gower.
Jim was employed for 43 years in banking with Farmers State Bank and Old National Bank of Union City, retiring in July 2001. He served on the board of directors and was EVP and Cashier and was named President in 2001. Jim was very active in the community belonging to the Lion’s Club, Union City Elks, Trinity Lutheran Church of Union City, and past member of Union City Ohio Council, Mississinawa Valley School Board, Jackson Township Zoning, Union City Chamber of Commerce, Darke County Economic Development and Darke County Banker’s Association.
Survivors include 3 sons Jeffrey (Laura) Gower of Versailles, OH, Jerry (Ann) Gower of U.C., OH, Aaron (Annette) Gower of Decatur, IN; grandchildren, Nicole, Kristen, Mark, Raymond, Kenneth, Kyle, Allison, Carissa, London, Parker, Liberty, Unity, Kierstan, Jacari, Cleveland, Janiece and Eli. And several great grandchildren; sister-in-law Barbara Gower of U.C., OH
In addition to his parents Jim was preceded by his wife, Kay Billenstein “2012;” son Jay Gower “1988;” 2 brothers Gary and Robert Gower; a sister Donna Lou Bey; brother-in-law Carl Bey and sister-in-law Shirley Gower.
Visitation will be Monday September 7, 5-7 PM at the Reichard Funeral Home Inc. Funeral services will be 10 AM Tuesday September 8, 2026 also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Teegarden Cemetery, Ansonia, Ohio. Online condolences may be expressed at www.reichardfh.com
