
When navigating Medicare open enrollment, it’s essential for Ohioans to pay attention to important dates and plan changes. Staying aware of key deadlines allows time to review changes to current coverage, explore available options, and make sure Medicare coverage continues to meet individual needs in the year ahead.
Medicare health and drug plans may change their premiums, benefits, costs or coverage from year to year. Ohioans should watch for notices from Medicare and their plan, review the Annual Notice of Change document, and take time to compare options before the Dec. 7 deadline.
September: Watch for the Medicare & You handbook and the plan’s Annual Notice of Change document, which explains changes to coverage.
Oct. 1: Medicare plan information for 2027 becomes available on Medicare.gov.
Oct. 10: Medicare plan star ratings are posted on Medicare.gov.
Oct. 15: Medicare open enrollment begins.
Dec. 7: Open enrollment ends.
Jan. 1: New Medicare health and drug plan coverage begins.
