Theft from vehicle
On April 14th, 2026, at approximately 2241 hours, I was dispatched to 1220 Russ Road, Rent-2-own in reference to a possibly 3 male juveniles breaking into a pickup truck.
Upon my arrival, I observed a white Ford Ranger in the parking lot of 1220 Russ Road, I did not observe any damage to the vehicle or any signs of forced entry. I checked the passenger side door and discovered the vehicle to be unlocked. I did not observe a key with the vehicle or any signs of damage in the vehicle. I made contact with rent to own Manager Nate Morris. Nate advised he will check to see if anything is missing from the vehicle the next day.
On April 15th, 2026, I received a call from Nate advising a credit card was missing from the vehicle. Upon making contact with Nate at Rent-2-Own he advised the company credit card was used at a Stop & Go gas station in Greenville Ohio. When looking at the bank statements I discovered it was Stop & Go across the street, 1201 Russ Road. The bank statement showed the transaction was for $55.13 at 10:43 A. M. on April 15th, 2026. Nate filled out a witness statement and a victim’s rights form. After speaking with Nate, I went to Stop & Go making contact with store employee who I gave the information to for the card and time it was used. She advised she would give it to her manager Kayla Durall.
On April 16th Kayla emailed me 4 photos, 3 are from the security video of what appears to be a white Mazda SUV at pump 5. The receipt was in one of the other photos showing $55.13 charged to the credit card matching the card number from Rent-2-Own’s credit card. Due to quality of the security camera, I am unable to identify the subject at the pump or even if they are male or female who used the credit card. Due to the camera angle, it did not show any license plates.
On April 23rd I made contact with Nate asking if any employees drive a vehicle matching that description. Nate advised there is not.
The credit card has since been cancelled and there is no further evidence for the suspect.
Animal Problem
On April 23, 2026, at approximately 1530 hours I responded to 213 Hart Avenue to speak to Megan Treon about a dog running through the street in the 200 block of Hart Avenue in the City of Greenville.
Upon my arrival I spoke to Megan who advised one of Troy Vanden’s dogs had gotten out again and Troys kids were trying to catch the dog as it was running through the street. Megan stated she had video of this incident. Megan showed me the video which I confirmed to be Troy’s kids as I have responded to his house before. In the video you can see a dog which appears to be a German shepherd running through the street and Troy’s kids running after it. The dog ran through neighbors’ yards until one of the kids finally grabbed the dog and took it back into their residence at 229 Hart Avenue.
I went to 229 Hart Avenue to contact Troy about this incident where I got no answer. It should be noted that in the past week Troy has been issued citations for animals at large on 04/19/26 and on 04/20/26. Troy also has been charged with this same offense before these incidents as well. Due to the previous charges Megan wanting him to charge due to this being a nuisance. I filled out a citation for Troy failing to prevent his animal from becoming a nuisance ( 618.02(b) an M4 offense.
Troy was then served a copy of his citation by Officer Ward on 04/23/26 at approximately 2245 hours and advised of his court date and time.
Megan filled out a written statement and the videos she has will be attached to this report.
Animal Problem
On April 23rd, 2026 at approximately 2255 hours, I was assisting P.O. Daugherty and P.0. Ward on incident #26-G00462 at 229 Hart Avenue in the city of Greenville.
While speaking with the resident, Troy Vanden, regarding the other incident, I heard a neighbor yelling about something in the alley. I soon observed a gray dog running in the street of 12th Street near Hart Avenue and begin running up to officers as well as Troy and his children. Troy stated to his children that “Sophie” had gotten out and instructed the kids to get the dog back in the house.
It was soon apparent that the children were unable to catch the dog to place it back inside the residence. I advised Troy he could go get his dog. Troy was able to gain control of his dog and it was secured back inside his residence at 229 Hart Avenue.
Due to Troy not being able keep his dog secure and it being able to run around in the street, I prepared and issued Troy a misdemeanor citation for Greenville Ordinance 618.02(C), a misdemeanor of the 4th degree. Troy was explained the ticket and advised of his mandatory court date.
