On Friday afternoon, the Greenville Police Department received information about a 2014 White Ford Fiesta that was involved in two pursuits late on May 28th in Union and Miami County. The vehicle was believed to be from the Greenville area, so officers were looking for the vehicle on May 29th. Around 12:00 P.M., an officer located the vehicle on East Main Street near Smith Street.
Once the operator of the vehicle observed the officer, the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed. The officer then activated their emergency lights and sirens to get the vehicle to stop. The vehicle continued through town at a high rate of speed. The vehicle then traveled through a portion of town, failing to stop at several stop signs, before traveling westbound on State Route 502. The vehicle traveled at speeds of 90+ mph.
The Greenville Police Department received assistance from the Darke County Sheriff’s Office and the Union City Police Department.
Due to the previous pursuits and the speeds of this pursuit putting the public at risk, stop sticks were used to deflate the vehicles’ tires. At this point, the vehicle started to slow and eventually came to a stop, where the operator of the vehicle, Nathan Wiedmaire (19) was arrested and booked into the Darke County Jail on Failure to Comply and Possession of a Controlled Substance charges.
The Greenville Police Department would like to thank all the agencies that worked together to keep our citizens safe.
