Bradford holds off scrappy Ansonia bunch; Tigers make fourth quarter push in upset bid
By George Starks - BRADFORD - When a team follows the game plan a coach puts out, good things happen. When a team gets away from that game plan, things have a tendency to fall apart. Such was the case for the Bradford Lady Railroaders as the Roaders posted a tough 49-42 Cross County Conference victory over Ansonia Thursday. The game plan for Bradford was obvious right from the beginning. Throw a zone press at the Tigers and go after... read more

A wild and crazy night, By George Starks
NEW MADISON - If I wouldn’t have seen it with my own eyes, I probably never would have believed it. I’ve been covering prep sports since 1987, and I honestly can’t remember if a Tri-Village basketball team has ever been shut out in the first quarter of any game. I seriously don’t remember any Patriot team ever coming back from 20 points down with one quarter left to play, to win a game on a buzzer beater in overtime... read more

VanWinkle hits buzzer beater in Patriots victory, By George Starks
Tri-Village survives huge scare from Bethel - NEW MADISON- On a night when Tri-Village couldn’t buy a bucket. On a night when the only thing worse than the weather outside was the Patriots offense inside. On a night when it looked like the undefeated Patriots weren’t going to remain that way, the unimaginable happened. With 3.2 seconds remaining in overtime and things knotted up at 55-55, sophomore... read more

Lady Trojans pull off the unthinkable; Arcanum blows out T-V in crucial CCC game, By George Starks
NEW MADISION - It’s not often that a team can waltz into ‘The Battleground’ at Tri-Village and leave with a victory. On a rare (unthinkable) occasion, can a team not only get a win there, but post a convincing blow-out of the Lady Patriots. Thursday, Rachel Fearon and her Arcanum Lady Trojans pulled off what most teams can only dream of. The unthinkable! Never forgetting a 59-52 loss to the Patriots in the championship game of the Burkett in... read more

Cincinnati Bengals… Lewis says new coordinators spur another reboot
MOBILE, Ala. — It was 11 years ago at this game that Marvin Lewis became head coach of the Bengals and as he wrapped up his scouting trip to the Senior Bowl Wednesday he pledged the third reboot of his tenure. The first one was spurred by his hire. The drafting of perennial Pro Bowl wide receiver A.J. Green and quarterback Andy Dalton three years ago marked the next one and led to three straight postseason berths. Now he says the... read more

V-Lady Tigers get hard fought victory, By George Starks
Ft. Loramie more than just another team - VERSAILLES- When it comes to being battle tested, both Versailles and Ft. Loramie has proven over the years to have won those battles. Tuesday, the two teams met and once again the game went right down to the final buzzer in what will go down as a classic battle. In a game that featured 11 lead... read more

Versailles too much for Ft. Recovery to handle; Heckman leads the way for Lady Tigers
By George Starks - VERSAILLES- Versailles senior Katie Heckman doesn’t start. In fact, the six foot forward barely plays half the game. Coming off the bench Thursday against Ft. Recovery, Heckman netted 17 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, half on the offensive glass, putting three back in for scores. In the end, it all tallied up to a nice 57-39 Midwest Athletic Conference (MAC) victory as the Tigers went to 12-2 overall and 5-0 in the... read more

A class act by two communities, By George Starks
PITSBURG- If I had done what was originally planned Friday night, I would have made a change in my schedule and went to Versailles instead of going to Franklin Monroe. Even without junior sensation Kyle Ahrens on the floor for the Tigers, I wanted to see the St. Henry team and I really wanted to see how good the Tigers were going to be without Ahrens. I’m glad I never made that change. I have been... read more

A dream comes true for FM senior; Eley: I’m both honored and humbled, By George Starks
PITSBURG - Since the day he was born, Devon Eley would never experience what most of us take for granted. Born with Spina Bifida, Eley would never know what it would be like to run or even walk, let alone play in a basketball game. He had the clubbed feet and a broken femur in his leg and was in a cast for six weeks. Not the way the majority of people starts out in life. Being a part of Franklin Monroe basketball since he was in the seventh grade... read more

Jets outshoot Trojans on emotional night, By George Starks
PITSBURG- On a night when Franklin Monroe put three in double figures led by senior Trey Mong with 16 points and 10 rebounds, it eventually wasn’t about Mong. On a night when the Arcanum Trojans shot a measly 11 of 42 from the field (26.2 percent), it wasn’t about that either. It wasn’t about a 55-31 Cross County Conference victory by the Jets. It was all about what happened with 59.1 seconds... read more

ARCANUM- The Arcanum Lady Trojans made it a clean sweep over Franklin Monroe Thursday. After a 64-24 victory over the Jets in the Burkett in November, many thought Franklin Monroe would narrow the 40 point gap the Trojans posted in the annual Tri-Village tournament. Colts, Patriots Six Days from Fourth Playoff Match, colts.com
INDIANAPOLIS – When the Colts and Patriots failed to meet in the regular season, it was the first time the league series had not been contested since 2002.
