Ansonia
tops Bradford in sectional final; Tigers only county softball team
left,
By George Starks
SIDNEY- The Ansonia Lady Tigers were the only team left standing
Tuesday evening when all play had ended. In a game dominated by
pitching, it was Ansonia senior Catey Fischer and Bradford senior Haley
Patty that locked horns in the pitching circle at Fairlawn High School.
Ansonia won a thriller on a solo homerun off the bat of Allison
Phillippi in the fourth. That would be all the Tigers would need in a
1-0 sectional final victory... read

Southeastern
scores two early in route to sectional title; Lady Jets bow out of state
tournament
By George Starks - BRADFORD - It took only one swing of the bat to put
an end to the Franklin Monroe softball season Tuesday in sectional
final action held at Bradford. With one down and one on, Southeastern
third baseman Madison McKee drilled a pitch over the left field fence
for a two run homer. That would be just enough as Southeastern would
post a 3-1 sectional final win over Franklin Monroe. In his post-game
talk with... read

horses and 25 races as the annual event at the Darke County Fairgrounds

Bradford
run rules MV in sectional victory, By George

BRADFORD - It was once written that one bad apple don’t spoil the whole
bunch. That may be true for fruit but not so in sports. Tuesday,
Mississinawa Valley had one bad inning and it spoiled the whole game
with Bradford. The Lady Hawks and the Lady Railroaders hooked up in
their first round sectional game and it was a bad second inning the
propelled the Roaders to a 14-3, five inning run rule win over the
Hawks. Bradford sent 14 hitters... read

Wave now at 22-3; Wild
night produces wild Wave win, By George Starks
GREENVILLE- It may go down as one of the wildest games in the history
of Lady Wave softball. It will definitely be one Greenville coach
Jerrod Newland will never forget. It is no secret that
Northmont-Greenville games have been barn burners in the past. With the
exception of a three run loss by the Wave in Newland’s first year at
the helm, the last eight games played between the two teams have been
one run affairs. Thursday was no different... read

ANSONIA- No matter what the sport, it doesn’t matter how the game
starts but how it ends. Down 3-0 early, Ansonia fought hard to come
back and post a 7-6 victory over St. Henry Wednesday. ”The girls kept
their composure,” said Ansonia coach Floyd Jenkins. “St. Henry came up
there in the first inning, hit a couple of shots but it’s a long game
and we had to keep our composure and we had to chip away... read
